Pursuant to the Regulation on the plan of official statistics, 2018 (Official Gazette of RS, No 120/17), in the period from 1 October to 30 November 2018 the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia will conduct the Farm Structure Survey 2018. The funds for the implementation of this survey, amounting to EUR 2.5 million, will be provided from the EU instruments of pre-accession assistance, within the National IPA 2016 programme (85%) and the Serbian Budget (15%).
This survey is carried out on three-year basis, between two agricultural censuses, and it represents a major structural survey within the system of agricultural statistics. In the course of the Survey implementation, well-trained interviewers will visit 120 000 farms in the territory of the Republic of Serbia and they will collect the data on utilized agricultural area, number of livestock, mechanization, labour force employed on farms, production methods applied in agriculture, etc.
The obtained information are expected to be useful for the agricultural policy makers and for the short- and long-term strategies of agricultural development; however also for farmers for better planning of agricultural production, making decisions on agricultural domains to invest in, as well as for applying for the national and the EU agricultural support funds. In addition, these data will lay grounds for updating the Statistical Farm Register, which is of crucial importance for the quality of data on agricultural production.
The successful implementation of the Survey is mostly related to and depends on the full responsiveness of the Serbian farmers and the accuracy and completeness of their replies.
